Our theory of change clearly articulates the relation and pathways for creating a truly positive just and equitable world for vulnerable children, young people and women.

The framework is built on Mamie Foundation’s four priority areas of work: Child’s education, youth employment, women empowerment and gender-based violence. These four priority areas are drawn from an in-depth analysis of the factors that drive and shape poverty in inequality of large segment of individuals in children, young people and women in poor and marginalised communities around the world.

mamie foundation theory of change

Our assumptions are that creating a just and equitable world clearly involves:

  1. Supporting the school systems and teachers’ professional development and mobilising resources to improve access to inclusive, equitable and quality education for children and adolescents in poor and marginalised communities.
  2. Creating direct employment opportunities and supporting community-driven business activities and strengthening women advocacy to ensure that they are financially self-sufficient and socially active at local and national levels.
  3. Strengthening youths’ employability skills and creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people to gain decent employment and become financially independent and socially active.
  4. Building the capacity of women and girls as change agents and mobilising communities and power bearers to collectively act in the best interests of women and girls to challenge norms and structures that reproduce inequalities and violent behaviours against them.

Along with the four strategic areas of focus, we believe that success and sustainable change rests on:

  • Creating the enabling environment – that includes improvement in policy and institutional configurations and practice conducive for children, young people and women welfare. Here, MF will engage with and influence those in power at all levels to create an evidence-based policy and more fairer and equitable environment for all.
  • Improving access to resources and strengthening individual agency – we focus on supporting vulnerable individuals and groups with knowledge, skills, resources and agency to fully enjoy their rights, build resilience and direct their own change process.
