Collaborative School Support Services

Good health and wellbeing of learners have been positively linked to high-quality education.  Children and young people exposed to health-risk behaviours and practices, such as unintended pregnancy, bullying, aggression, drug and alcohol abuses and peer-pressure, are less likely to engage in or drop out of school.

MAMIE actively supports schools to create learning environments that enable students to be healthy, happy, engaged and successful. We focus on developing initiatives and services to combat health-risk behaviours and practices in schools, using proven methodology based on people-centred approaches.

Our innovative approach creates a ‘participatory space’ where we work together with learners, family members, schools and communities to identify and define the problems and come up with solutions.  Our ultimate goal is to build awareness and provide sustainable solutions that would improve students’ capacity and resilience to overcome health-risk behaviours and practices in schools.

Personal Health and Hygiene

Our work also actively promotes children and young people’s personal health and provides services to improve water, sanitation and hygiene in schools. Lack of access to clean water and sanitation has been linked to good health status and education performance of children and young people in school.
